Book of Mormon Lesson 13: 1 Nephi Chapters 10-11
To Prepare: Read through the linked lesson above (be sure to read 1 Nephi Chapter 10 and chapter 11 and print a copy of the activity below for each child participating. Today there’s a choice between a wordsearch and a coloring/drawing page.
To Teach: Begin with a prayer. 1 Nephi 10:1-14 is a continuation of Lehi’s vision.
Things Lehi saw:
- The destruction of Jerusalem
- Christ’s birth 600 years in the future
- John the Baptist and Jesus’s baptism
- The scattering of the 10 tribes
After Lehi had finished teaching, Nephi desired to see and know the same things his father had seen. Chapter 11 begins to tell about Nephi’s vision. We read this chapter aloud slowly, discussing things as they came up. Nephi saw the Tree of Life that Lehi had seen, and he was also shown Mary and the baby Jesus. (We had to explain what ‘virgin’ meant.) He also saw Jesus’s ministry, including His baptism by John the Baptist, His miracles, the twelve apostles, and His crucifixion.
