1. At the end of 2018, another Marvel movie appeared that was not in the MCU. Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. It was a surprising departure from the typical Spider-Man movie that had been made over and over since the beginning of the millennium, both because it was animated, and because it introduced some alternate versions of Spider-Man that had thus far only existed in the comics. This movie represented a shift in the way that superhero movies were made, and foreshadowed some of the directions that the main MCU would take in the upcoming years.
