To Teach: Begin with a prayer. Read and explain Exodus 3:1-10. Ask children what reasons they might take their shoes off before entering someplace. If applicable, help them remember places they go where they remove their shoes. Moses was supposed to remove his shoes so that he would know he was in a holy place. What was Moses being asked to do?

Read Exodus 3:11. How did Moses feel about his new calling?

Read Exodus 3:12. How did the Lord respond?

Read Exodus 3:16-20. The Lord had a plan for Moses. What was going to make the Pharaoh let the people go?

Moses took his wife and children and returned to Egypt, where he was to follow the plan the Lord had given him. Read Exodus 4:27-31. Aaron came and met Moses and helped him convince the elders of Israel that the Lord was preparing to free them from their bondage.

We know that Moses was in the similitude of Jesus Christ. (Moses 1:6) This means that he was like Jesus. There were many things in Moses’s life that were like things in Jesus’s life.

Finish with the matching activity to see what some of those similarities are. This lesson is over!
